NIGHT AND DAY

I am currently so bewitched by this song! The bossa beat is especially bewitching! I wished I were a Brazillian babe!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7yBVvYjxCk

Night and day, you are the one
Only you beneath the moon or under the sun
Whether near to me, or far
Its no matter darling where you are
I think of you

Night and day, day and night, why is it so
That this longing for you follows wherever I go
In the roaring traffics boom
In the silence of my lonely room
I think of you

Night and day, day and night,
Under the hide of me
Theres an oh such a hungry yearning burning inside of me
And this torment wont be through
Till you let me spend my life making love to you

Night and day, day and night

Night and day, day and night,
Under the hide of me
There's an oh such a hungry yearning burning inside of me
And this torment wont be through
Till you let me spend my life making love to you

And I say... spend the night making love to you 3x
Night and day...

STACIE ORRICO

This time, I am indulging myself in Stacie Orrico, she is really an inspiration. One of her first songs was Without Love and it was absolutely catchy! The message is also very powerful. Stacie Orrico is one of the few people I would gladly have myself transported into should there exist such thing as life exchange program. I do not envy her heart shaped photogenic face with all the right angled eyes, nose and lips, instead it is the fact that she can have such great influence in the music industry which truly is trash (with the exception of hers and a few others). She brings message of hope, joy and peace instead of the usual drug, sex and bondage messages. She grooves her way into the world as a lamb disguised in wolf clothing, not the other way around. She lit the dark gloomy dungeon of the music underground, guiding souls towards the truth. That is what I envy about Stacie Orrico, a Christian artist.

To listen ‘Without Love’ in Youtube;
To listen ‘What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?’ in Youtube;

Without Love
If I speak in the tongues of angels, but have not love
I'm only a resounding noise,
If I have the gift of knowledge
And if my faith moves mountains high,
But have not love I am nothing
Though I know the One,
Who holds the stars in the heavens
In the palm of His hand If I give all I possess,
To the poor and the helpless
I'll still gain nothing, Without love
Love's patient, True love is always kind
Love does not envy, Never brags, it's never proud
Slow to wrath, it keeps no records of wrongs against friends
Love forgives, We all could use forgiveness

Love never fails, Love is true
Love's the one thing that can always change you
Love is patient, Love is kind
Love's the one reason the world survives

What Are You Doing New Years Eve?
When the bells all ring and the horns all blow
And the couples we know are fondly kissing
Will I be with you or will I be among The missing
Maybe it's much too early in the game
Oh, but I thought I'd ask you just the same
What are you doing New Year's, New Year's Eve?
Wonder whose arms will hold you good and tight
When it's exactly twelve o'clock that night
Welcoming in the New Year, New Year's Eve
Maybe I'm crazy to suppose I'd ever be the one you chose
Out of the thousand invitations you receive
Oh, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance
What are you doing New Year's, New Year's Eve?
Oh, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance
What are you doing New Year's, New Year's Eve?
What are you doing New Year's Eve?
The part that really touches me in the song Without Love is; "Though I know the one who holds, the stars in the heaven, in the palm of His hands..." This is a really powerful statement that always gets me... Yes, He is the one who holds the stars in the palm of His hands and that He knows the right time and the best for us... This song really serves to remind me and refresh my memory that He is the one who holds the stars in the Heaven, He holds my destiny... My life is in the palm of His hand

ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM’S DINDI

Jobim is my all time inspiration! His music should be more popular than that of the Beatles! Jobim’s lyrics are simple yet it touches the heart. He has been the inspiration to my poetry. Too bad I am musically deaf or I would have composed music too. Actually Jobim is the one who taught me how to put emotion into words. I don’t do it as well as he did it of course. He is the master. If there is such thing as reincarnation, which my faith prohibits me from believing, I would like to be born as a Brazilian girl, like that of the girl from Ipanema whose main preoccupation in life is just sun tanning at Ipanema or Copacabana, hanging out with a bunch of friends, playing beach volley ball in bikini and thongs… I would, like what Jobim did, sit down at the beach, and compose music, romantic bossa nova music sipping full cream mocha-latte frappucino (these girls don’t get fat). Bikinis just don’t work with physics like mine, they work with roasted olive tinted complexion that of Brazilians. I am so envious! Not to mention the romantic Portuguese language they speak. Sigh… Since Brazilians are not pure white, if I can even choose, I would love to be 25% Portuguese, 25% Italian, 25% Scandinavian and 25% Amerindian, talk about United Nation.

DINDI is one of my all time favorite songs by Jobim. It is so simple so easy and so romantic. I like the casual sway of the song. I wish I can understand Portuguese… I guess for now the English version will just have to do it for me. Apart from DINDI, I also love WAVE, CORCOVADO, DESAFINADO, GAROTA DE IPANEMA and UNA NOTA SAMBA, all by genius Jobim.

Sky, so vast is the sky, And far away clouds just wandering by..Where do they go? Oh I don't know, don't know...Wind that speaks to the leaves , Telling stories that no one believes Stories of love, Belong to you and me....Oh Dindi.... If I only had words, I would say all the beautiful things that I see When you're with me, oh my Dindi Oh Dindi... Like the song of the wind in the trees That's how my heart is singing Dindi, happy Dindi, When you're with me I love you more today Yes I do, yes I do, I'd let you go away, If you take me with you Don't you know Dindi, I'd be running and searching for you, Like a river that can't find the see That would be me, Without you my Dindi

IN CHRIST ALONE by BRIAN LITTRELL of BACKSTREET BOYS

In search of inspiration, I have been listening to a song entitled; ‘In Christ Alone’, throughout my life I have mostly relied on this song for comfort, no matter what the circumstances are, be it gloomy or bloomy, I have always found strength in this particular song. Yesterday however, I found a modern version of it and I really find the voice of the singer quite familiar. Upon further investigation of the singer, I found out that it was sung by Brian Littrell!

Brian Littrell is the lead singer of Backstreet Boys! I was never quite a fan of Backstreet Boys, but listened to their song because both of my brothers (one older and the other younger) are always playing their songs, squeezed in the middle as the only daughter, I have no choice but to hear their songs. After checking out Wikipedia, I found out that Brian has now turned into a Christian contemporary singer! What a blessing! One part of the song really touches me; he said; ‘Oh, I could stop and count successes like diamonds in my hands, but those trophies could not equal to the grace by which I stand.’ ‘Now, I seek no greater honor in just to know Him more, and to count my gains for losses to the glory of my Lord.’ That came from the deepest part of his heart and we can witness the outer manifestation in his life when he won all that Grammies!

An outspoken Christian, Littrell has stated that he believes it is the duty of Christians to be open about their faith, saying, "I think as Christians we need to join hands and mount up together and lift God up and talk about our faith publicly and talk about all of the things God has done for us in our life to touch other people." Littrell, who has been a Born Again Christian since age 8, has said that he attributes his success in life to God, and that his faith has always been "the utmost important thing" in his life. In Christ alone will I glory
Though I could pride myself in battles won
For I’ve been blessed beyond measure
And by His strength alone I’ll overcome
Oh, I could stop and count successes like diamonds in my hands
But those trophies could not equal to the grace by which I stand
[chorus]
In Christ alone I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victoryLet it be said of me
My source of strengthMy source of hope
Is Christ alone
In Christ alone do I glory
For only by His grace I am redeemed
For only His tender mercy
Could reach beyond my weakness to my need
And now I seek no greater honor in just to know Him more
And to count my gains but losses to the glory of my Lord

WINSTON CHURCHILL

What I admire most about Winston Churchill is his wit. His quotes clearly display that quality of his. He has a sense of sentences and knows how to present his points. The following are some of his quotes (my favorite highlighted in orange);

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.

The optimist sees opportunity in every danger; the pessimist sees danger in every opportunity.

He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire.

Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.

I have taken more out of alcohol than alcohol has taken out of me.

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Do not criticize your government when out of the country. Never cease to do so when at home.

I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is ready for the ordeal of meeting me is another matter. (On his 75th birthday)

An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.

The English never draw a line without blurring it.

A fanatic is one who cannot change his mind and won't change the subject.

Golf is a game who's aim it is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.

The monarchy is so extraordinarily useful. When Britain wins a battle she shouts, 'God save the Queen'; when she loses, she votes down the prime minister.

I never worry about action, but only about inaction.

It is a mistake to look too far ahead. Only one link in the chain of destiny can be handled at a time.

Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.

The truth is incontrovertible. Panic may resent it; ignorance may deride it; malice may distort it, but there it is.

INSPIRATIONAL INDULGENCE

Another blog, another new theme, another new genre of writing. This is my sixth Blogspot’s blog and I actually have another one after this, a Chinese one where I can practice my Chinese to ensure maintenance of standard. The reason why I have to come up with another blog is that I have a place to put my output, to show my originality, yet I have not a place to put my input, a place to track back on how was it that I was inspired to produce my writings. And so along came the idea to the establishment of this site, where I intend to put other people’s works that has inspired me.

Inquisitiveness has led me to read voraciously. Ranging from Western thoughts to Eastern thoughts and now Middle Eastern thoughts, I am flabbergasted at the richness of diversity the world has to offer in terms of the elements that is running in the minds and the outcome of it. My biggest delight comes from the all time adored poet/writer/composer Shakespeare. Educated by the British system, I docilely abided in the British way of aesthetic arts appreciation, mainly literature generally speaking. I have yet to hear the British’s appreciation for arts of other forms such as dances or food. Music yes, thanks to Andrew Lloyd Webber, but certainly not culinary.

I pursued a tertiary education in USA where I enrolled myself in creative writing courses where I was exposed to the so called ‘modern poetry’ that to me is another name for ‘American poetry’. Democracy has unleashed the traditional chain of rigid rules and allowed the commoners and the sane (I always think of poetry reserved to the insane) to equally document their lives and thoughts in short stanza style. I must confess by the previous line’s tunes that I am not quite impressed by the American poets, with the exception of a few whom, are mostly from the 19th century or before that, an example being Robert Frost.

Different People have different inspirational indulgences; some choose luxurious iconic cars and cigars, others a pilgrimage on foot supported by a simple backpack. The point is to stimulate an environment where the mind, body and soul can yield to the utmost desire of the heart into a state of ecstasy. Yes, the word ‘inspiration’ dated back from the time of the gods and goddesses where to be inspired is equivalent to inhale the breath of the gods. Personally speaking, my inspirational indulgence comes from my readings and these are the stimulants to ‘inhale the breath of god’ I wish to share so that any mind’s innermost desire may be satisfied…
